CANT SLEEP? I’VE GOT A WORD FOR YOU.

I'm Jackie

These words come from the trenches of faith and the mountaintops of joy—meant to speak life over you. I  don’t offer quick fixes here. Just the steady, life-giving truth that Jesus is still hope, and He’s not letting go of you.

hey there

Hey friend—can we talk for a second?

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had those nights. You know the ones—where your body’s still, but your mind is running full speed. Replaying the what-ifs. Rehearsing worst-case scenarios. Rewriting conversations you wish had gone differently. You too?

What’s wild is, I used to think if I could just figure it out—tweak the plan, find the right words, fix the thing—I’d finally feel peace. But the truth? Sometimes the plan still falls apart.

That’s why Psalm 4:8 has been hitting different lately:

“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.”

Let’s pause on that: “You alone.”

Not a title. Not a backup plan. Not a resolution to the conflict David was facing. His peace wasn’t rooted in what got resolved—it was rooted in who he was with.

It reminds me of my son during a storm. One night, he didn’t ask for the rain to stop. He didn’t need the thunder to quiet down. He just wanted to sleep in my room. Not because the storm was gone—but because he knew he was near me. And near me, he was safe.

That’s what David’s doing here. He’s not saying everything is calm. He’s saying, “I know who I’m with.” And for him, that was enough.

Peace isn’t the product of a perfect plan—it’s the presence of a perfect God.

So maybe you’re waiting for something to be fixed before you rest. Maybe you’re hoping the door opens, the report changes, the pressure lifts. But can I gently tell you this?

You weren’t made to carry the weight of orchestrating peace.

God doesn’t hand us peace as a reward for figuring it all out. He gives it freely when we draw near.

That’s how David could lie down and sleep—even with enemies still surrounding him. Rest didn’t come from having answers. It came from knowing the One who never changes.

So tonight, let’s do the same.

Let’s stop measuring God’s nearness by how put-together our lives feel.

Let’s stop waiting for everything to be fixed before we breathe.

Let’s start believing that peace comes—not from control—but from closeness.

Peace was never meant to come from your plan. It comes from His presence.

So go ahead, friend—breathe deep. He’s near. And that’s enough.

With you, and for you.
